I know it's not a battery problem and this is the second time this has. When the trouble codes are stored and the service 4 wheel drive message is displayed, the transfer case is inoperative for the rest of that particular key cycle. I changed the dash switch, same problem.

They stated there was no way to tell what could have caused it due to the. I called the local gmc dealer to make sure it was a code and not just a suggestion like change oil. He has been good about getting the issues taken care of but the mechanics he likes to use just throw parts at the problem and do not.

Start date nov 29, 2010; When switching from 2wd to auto or to 4x4 high, the light blinks longer than i remember and then eventually stays lit under the setting i set it to. Started it up and left home, immediatly had service 4 wheel drive light, abs light, low tire psi light and shifting weird.
Leave it sit for five minutes and the message disappears. The truck was still in 4 high and no obvious issues. The biggest causes of this i've seen are a software glitch in the final drive control module which the dealer can fix by reprogramming and the other is usually the electric actuator on the front axle housing.
04 yukon 2 wheel drive not working. There was no cel or anything. I pulled over put vehicle in park shut it off and attempted to start it again to see if it would go away and it wouldn't turn over or even attempt to start.

Replace the transfer case shift control switch. Today i hook it to the tow bar for a test run and when i put the selector to n i get “service four wheel drive system”. Usually the light is off after a few days, then the 4l lights up and stays on even though i am driving freeway speeds, transfer case is in 4h but dash says 4l.

2004 gmc yukon, service 4wd light comes on just about every time i drive it, checked all fluids and they are fine. I pull off the transfer case actuator and hit switch, it makes a noise and the front diff act makes noise too. I tried everything but still won't.
